RWM on the Road to Recovery

Casino patrons in the Philippines are starting to return to Resorts World Manila in Entertainment City. The resort was shut down in June after a deadly attack by a disgruntled gambler that left 38 people dead.

Traffic almost back to normal

Alliance Global, owner and operator of Resorts World Manila, said the property is returning to business as usual after a siege in June that left 38 people dead, reports Rappler.com.

“I think the proof is in the numbers and you can see the traffic coming back. It is averaging 26,000 people a day from the previous average of 28,000 and we’re just in September,” Alliance Global President Kingson Sian told stockholders during an annual meeting last week. Sian added that the attack, which destroyed the casino’s second floor, has pushed the firm to move ahead with its Phase III expansion, will add three additional casino levels with a total of 650 gaming tables and 4,000 slot machines, reported the Asia Gaming Brief.

We’re targeting opening the third phase of RWM in the first quarter of 2018, but there might be a chance that we will have a soft opening by late December of this year and that should augment at least what we’ve lost in the second floor,” he said.
