The South Korean Mint hopes to ward off forgery in the casino industry with the development of new, theft-proof gaming chips. The chips will be used in casinos run by Grand Korea Leisure Co. Ltd.

The South Korean Mint will employ sophisticated manufacturing technologies to fight back against forgery in casinos, according to reports.

South Korean newspaper Aju Business Daily said the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp. will devise special chips that are difficult to counterfeit. They will be used by Grand Korea Leisure Co. Ltd. a state-owned company that runs foreigners-only casinos under the Seven Luck brand.

In making the chips, the mint will use what the publication called “three-dimensional security technology” and special sensitive materials.
