The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in Southern California has announced the rebranding of its casino resort to Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel, just in time for an expansion that will open in December.
The tribe says the name change will allow it “to pursue additional growth opportunities and serve the community under the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians enterprise.”
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairman Ken Ramirez declared, “Today marks a new chapter of rebirth and boundless potential, so we have given our property a new name—Yaamava’—the Serrano word for ‘spring.’” He added, “We are immensely grateful to our Tribal citizens, the thousands of San Manuel team members, and millions of valued guests over the years, all of whom helped make this moment possible.”
The San Manuel casino opened 35 years ago as a bingo hall and has continuously evolved in the years since then.
The three-part expansion added slot machines, bringing the total to 6,500, opened a high limit room, three retail shops and new bars and restaurants.
In December the tribe will open with a new 17-floor hotel with 432 rooms and a pool deck with private cabanas and spa. Next year it will open a 2,800 seat entertainment venue.
The rebrand includes a new logo that was inspired by the tribe’s ancestral lands: It includes yucca plant fronds in a woven basket pattern.
When the expansion is complete the tribe estimates that it will employ more than 6,000 workers.
