San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in southern California launched a new type of linked progressive video slot from Konami Gaming. Smash Smash Festival, a fiesta-themed video slot, drew hundreds of players who lined up to try the game on its launch day, Cinco de Mayo.
Smash Smash Festival features six jackpot levels and random credit prizes. The game provides a twist on the traditional linked progressive. Instead of using incrementing meters, the slot increases the number of mystery prizes in a winner-take-all format. Players at the casino were the first to be able to try the new gaming title during the debut that featured a live performance from a mariachis band.
During game play, players will randomly be given the opportunity to choose one of two piñata mystery prizes during a purchased spin. The piñata that is chosen will then burst open and reveal what prize the player has won. The remaining piñata stays a mystery and is added to the jackpot pool of piñatas that remain unselected.
When the prize is claimed, a big explosion takes place featuring coins and confetti, like a fiesta. Players have the chance to win a mystery piñata prize as well as one of six progressives, including a top prize resetting at $5,000.
Smash Smash Festival is offered exclusively within the Concerto Collection of video slots created by Konami.
