Sands: App Not Banned in China

Sands China Ltd., the Asian arm of Las Vegas casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp., is denying a report that the Chinese government had banned its mobile application from the mainland.

Sands China denies that the Chinese government had added its mobile application to a list of almost 3,500 apps that have been banned from Mainland China. In a statement to the Macau News Agency, the company wrote, “All our official mobile apps continue to be accessible and function normally from within China. Our applications and websites comply strictly with Chinese rules and regulations.”

A news release from the Cyberspace Administration of China listed an app for Sands Macao among those prohibited, but it was unclear if the app is actually run by Sands China. A number of illicit online operations have been caught appropriating the logos and brand names of legal operators.
