Macau gaming concessionaire Sands China Ltd. has appointed Winnie Wong as its chief responsible gaming officer and vice president of special gaming projects. Sands said the move demonstrates its “dedication” to responsible gaming in Macau, according to the Macau Daily Times.
Wong told the Times her new role is to “design and drive responsible gaming strategies that are tailored to suit Macau’s needs and to develop the RG program, which reduces risk gambling and improves gambling safeguards and helps guests make informed choices.
“Sands has always been a good corporate citizen; our corporate program—applicable to the whole Sands group—called Project Protect was launched in August 2018,” she added.
Wong called responsible gaming “one of the three pillars under Project Protect. The company is committed to proactively drive RG efforts and lead the industry’s best practice.”
Employed by Sands China since 2014, Wong has previously served in corporate communications and community affairs roles. In her new role, she will bring “more focus and dedication” to responsible gaming.
