Sands Said to Abandon iGaming Efforts

Las Vegas Sands Corporation (LVS) is abandoning its nascent effort to enter the online gaming space, according to a report in the Nevada Independent.

LVS began the effort to enter iGaming less than 18 months ago, just after the death of former CEO Sheldon Adelson. The company had avoided going into online gaming under Adelson, who had a history of opposition to internet gaming.

Reports emerged last December that Davis Catlin and David Williams, who had been brought on specifically for the iGaming effort, had departed LVS to found their own company.

Eilers & Krejcik Gaming reported in its newsletter that LVS had also pulled out of several partnership deals related to online gaming. Eilers & Krejcik Gaming analyst Chris Krafcik told readers of his advisory firm’s newsletter last week that Sands’ online efforts had been shut down.
