SLS Beverly Hills, South Beach have less than 300 rooms
SLS Las Vegas, the $415 million SBE Entertainment hotel-casino set to open on the Las Vegas Strip in August, will be the Los Angeles company’s flagship property, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
SBE currently operates two other SLS hotels, in Beverly Hills and South Beach, with less than 300 rooms each. The new property will have 1,620 rooms and suites. It was built on the site of the Sahara, a famous hangout of the Rat Pack. The property closed in 2011.
In addition to the hotel, SLS Las Vegas will include a 60,000-square-foot casino, restaurants and nightclubs, convention space and a retail area. It expects to draw from an already established customer base in Southern California. But owner Sam Nazarian is casting his net wide to fill those rooms: SLS Las Vegas will be part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts guest loyalty program, which includes 450 independently-owned hotels and resorts. SLS has also announced that it will be affiliated with a new independent hotel collection through Hilton Worldwide. That alliance will let the property tap into the Hilton HHonors customer loyalty program. The program has 40 million members, the Review-Journal reported.
The Hilton deal “allows us to maintain the SLS brand identity while offering the benefits of Hilton Worldwide’s commercial engines and the strength of the Hilton HHonors loyalty program,” Nazarian said.
The hospitality company has also expanded into the Bahamas market, taking over operations of the Mondrian at the Baha Mar Hotel. The newly branded SLS at Baha Mar will feature 300 rooms that “continue the brand’s tradition of celebrating creativity, culture, fashion and art as part of the pursuit of our guests’ passions,” SBE announced.
