A million, 7-story parking garage recently opened at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville, Mississippi. The garage was designed by Nory Hazaveh of SOSH in New York City, architect of the casino resort, which opened in December 2015.
Visitors drive straight up a speed ramp rather than around in circles to access each floor, said President and Chief Executive Officer LuAnn Pappas. She added the 1,100-space facility also is equipped with bright LED lights and the largest number of security cameras found in any South Mississippi casino parking garage.
Pappas said customers who prefer can park on the nearby lots but then they’ll miss Hazaveh’s impressive grand entry, featuring cool air and waving swirls on the ceiling and floor that extend into the casino. “We celebrated the wave,” Hazaveh said regarding his design.
An upscale boutique called Frankly My Dear and the Lounge Nocherie, featuring ice cream and candy retailers, a coffee shop and bar will open in May, said Scarlet Pearl owner Bob Granieri, who came up with those names. He said a spa, health club, nightclub and a second hotel tower are in the planning stages. “We plan to be the leader here,” Granieri said.
A poker room recently was added and the buffet was expanded, Pappas said. She added the vibrant work of artist New York artist Peter O’Neill, who has galleries in New Orleans and Key West, will be shown throughout the casino and can be purchased or acquired using casino points.
