Scarlet Pearl Pays Employees To Get Vaccinated

Employees at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville, Mississippi will receive $150 for getting the single dose Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine. Hourly employees who already got their immunization will receive $150 per shot and those who receive the Moderna or Pfizer 2-shot vaccine will receive a total of $300, or $150 per shot. Chief Executive Officer LuAnn Pappas said, “We want to mitigate the impact COVID-19 has had on the hospitality industry.”

Pappas stated the casino’s directors all have had the Covid-19 vaccinations, which are mandatory for all managers. “They’re exposed to the virus every day,” she said, adding they then have to quarantine first for 14 days and now 10 days.

To make it easier for employees to get a shot, Pappas said Scarlet Pearl has partnered with Memorial Hospital to hold on-site immunizations on Fridays at the casino clinic.

Appointments are required and will scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for employees 50 and older or with pre-existing medical conditions. Scarlet Pearl also is allowing time off for those who get the vaccine at another site. Employees will be compensated for shots they already have taken at any location.

After all employees are vaccinated, Scarlet Pearl will open appointments to their immediate family members, Pappas said.
