Rush Street Gaming last week announced that Las Vegas casino executive Rick Richards is the new general manager of Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady.
Richards is a former vice president and general manager at Station Casinos—overseeing a diverse portfolio of properties including Fiesta Henderson, Red Rock Resort Casino & Spa, Palms Casino Resort, and Texas Station Hotel & Casino.
Richards began his casino career more than 40 years ago on notable gaming floors throughout Nevada, including Caesars Palace, Bally’s Hotel & Casino, and more. He’s worked in varied roles from pit manager to shift manager to VP. Richards has also served as an operations consultant for several U.S. and international casino and resort companies.
“We’re excited to welcome Rick to the Rush Street family,” said Greg Carlin, CEO of Rush Street Gaming. “He’s learned the casino and hotel business from the ground up with particular expertise around guest experience, team building, and performance—all of which are key areas of alignment and strength for Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady.”
Richards has received approval from the New York State Gaming Commission and his appointment was effective immediately.
Richards will lead the Mohawk Harbor casino and the Landing Hotel following the recent departure of Justin Moore. In April, Moore was named general manager of Rivers Casino Philadelphia. After stepping in briefly as acting general manager, Jeff Cutri returns to his role as VP of gaming operations at Rivers Schenectady.
According to Rush Street, Rivers is the No. 1 tourist destination in New York’s Capital Region, home of the BetRivers Sportsbook and one of Upstate New York’s “Top Workplaces,” according to the Albany Times-Union.
