Scientific Games Joins Holiday Responsibility Campaign

As Christmas approaches, Scientific Games will use the holiday as a backdrop to deal with gambling addiction as one of its main business goals. The company is highlighting the increased levels of gambling during the holidays by having its lottery division partner with the National Council on Problem Gambling for the “Gift Responsibly” campaign that occurs during the holidays.

Joining the campaign will be North American lotteries and counterparts in Europe and Australia to get the message out there to spread awareness of the risks of excessive gambling, according to Gambling News.

Scientific Games will be certified by the World Lottery Association, recognizing it as a responsible gambling partner.

“They are a valued NCPG member that is once again participating in the Gift Responsibly campaign,” said NCPG executive director Keith Whyte. “We thank Scientific Games for helping to spread the message that adults should avoid giving lottery tickets to children during the December holiday season.”

Scientific Games will help boost awareness for the NCPG initiative by integrating it with its own “Healthy Play” program, which is designed to help lottery operators promote safer gambling messages and avoid vulnerable consumers, or at the very least, provide them with the means to stay safe.

Carla Schaefer, SG Lottery vice president of responsible gambling, said the company’s creative and marketing teams have been working on a campaign under the Healthy Play banner that promotes responsible gambling. These messages will also feature Gift Responsibly images.
