In a move to revolutionize its gaming and digital systems, the New Zealand national lottery, Lotto NZ, has recently announced a partnership with global lottery firm Scientific Games.

This collaboration aims to upgrade the systems that support Lotto NZ’s popular MyLotto and instore technology, propelling the company into a new era of innovation and customer experience. With a significant shift towards digital channels and online play accounting for 46 percent of total sales, Lotto NZ recognizes the need for a fit-for-purpose system that can meet the demands of the ever-evolving market.

Lotto NZ’s project, aptly named the EDGE Programme (Experience Driven Gaming Engine), signifies the company’s commitment to delivering an unparalleled gaming experience to its customers. This comprehensive initiative involves replacing the existing interactive system supporting MyLotto and the core gaming system that underpins Lotto NZ’s network of approximately 1,200 retail stores across New Zealand.

Over the past three years, Lotto NZ has witnessed a significant surge in digital engagement. CEO Chris Lyman emphasized the importance of adopting a fit-for-purpose system that supports omnichannel growth while providing customers with the world’s best and safest experience.

“This is the right time to invest in a fit-for-purpose system that will set us up for the future, support omnichannel growth, and provide New Zealanders the world’s best and safest customer experience,” Lyman said in a statement.

Scientific Games next-generation gaming technology aligns perfectly with Lotto NZ’s vision of socially responsible growth and personalized player experiences across its digital channels. It will replace technology that Lyman said is 20 years old.

“By leveraging Scientific Games’ modular solution, Lotto NZ aims to ensure a robust back end capable of meeting the projected increase in digital demand over the next decade. This flexibility will also allow for seamless integration of new features and enhancements as technology, game designs, and game controls evolve,” Lyman added.

“We see Scientific Games’ demonstrated innovation and leadership in developing quality, socially responsible gaming technology as a great match for us. We’re confident of a collaborative and successful partnership in the years to come and are excited about getting this program of work started,” Lyman said.
