Scientific Games wins tender for seven-year contract with Berlin lottery

Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin (DKLB) is to become the first German lottery provider to implement Scientific Games’ Symphony omnichannel gaming system under a new seven-year contract.

While Scientific Games has served as a technology provider to the Lotto Berlin operator for more than 20 years, it will now make the switch to the new system. Symphony’s architecture supports retail, digital and mobile play and future game entertainment channels, including third-party content and platforms.

DKLB, which dates back to the 1940s, becomes the first lottery in Germany to implement a multi-tenant Symphony system, including the SG PAM player account management system, which serves games to consumers across retail and digital channels. The solution ensures a comprehensive digital transformation that will launch in 2027 across DKLB’s operations.

Hansjörg Höltkemeier, chief executive of Lotto-Berlin, said: “With our selection of Scientific Games and Symphony, we are not only responding to the ever-increasing requirements in the areas of operational safety and cyber security but also focusing on continuity. Above all, we are investing in a new system architecture that will lead to an excellent, system-supported customer experience across all our sales channels.”

Scientific Games said the Symphony system will enable DKLB to operate with a fully modular, modern system architecture that will power omnichannel sales for various lottery products, including scratchcard games and iLottery games, as well as popular draw-based games like EuroJackpot, Lotto and Keno.

Matthias Müller, international lottery systems vice president of sales and marketing for Scientific Games, said: “Scientific Games is proud to be the primary technology partner for Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin. Together, we’re deploying our Symphony lottery gaming system, which includes the versatile Symphony multi-tenant platform and omnichannel player account management system that will serve several German lotteries. This enhanced lottery system ensures best-of-breed system integration throughout the life of our agreement.”
