The second casino to be built in Russia’s Far East Primorye economic development zone, opened October 16 at an initial cost of RUB3.5 billion (US$45 million).
Shambala, located outside Vladivostok, features 5,200 square meters of gaming space (56,000 square feet), a restaurant, two fast-food venues and a showroom.
A second phase pegged at RUB4.5 billion is slated get under way in 2022 with plans for a hotel, a golf course, outdoor attractions and more restaurants and bars.
According to Primorsky Krai Development Corporation, the new casino will attract around 100,000 people to the region a year.
Shambhala is the second major casino to open in the region following the launch of Tigre de Cristal in 2015.
Hong Kong-listed gaming developer NagaCorp and partner Diamond Fortune are also building a Primorye casino slated to open late next year.
The region is expected by then to be attracting around 1.2 million visitors annually.
