A new trade union representing security personnel has endorsed a three-year contract with MGM Resorts International’s Mandalay Bay Las Vegas.
Members of Local 2121, the Casino Hotel Industry Police division of the International Union of Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America, voted 124-13 in favor of the contract, which provides member officers with five or more years’ service a $500 signing bonus and $250 for those with less than five years.
All full-time officers and 10 percent of on-call officers are under the contract.
The guards approved the union in December by a vote of 163-79. Contract negotiations with management of the south Strip resort began in May.
Guards at two other MGM properties, Excalibur and Circus Circus, voted not to join the union.
