Sega Sammy Licensed in Nevada

The Japanese machine gaming manufacturer sees the Silver State as a springboard for plans to expand across North America. Its first games are expected to hit the U.S. market early next year.

Sega Sammy Licensed in Nevada

Japanese machine gaming manufacturer Sega Sammy Holdings has been granted a license to make and distribute slots in Nevada.

The company will operate in Nevada through two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Sega Sammy Creation and Sega Sammy USA, and expects to launch its first games in the state beginning in April 2018.

In a release accompanying the announcement of the license, Sega Sammy said it will “also move forward with procedures to acquire licenses in other regions to expand their distribution area.” The goal, the company said, is “to expand into North America, the world’s largest gaming machine market, in order to increase its Asia-centric business”.

Sega Sammy expects to generate revenue of 330 billion yen (US$2.93 billion) in the financial year ending March 2018, according to a recent filing with Japan’s Jasdaq stock market.
