The Korea International Exhibition and Convention Center, known as KINTEX, may seek government permission to locate a casino at the venue, the largest convention center in South Korea.
A KINTEX representative told GGRAsia the center is interested in establishing a third zone at the site with hotels and possibly a casino. The complex comes with a KRW485.3 billion (US$404.8 million) price tag.
The representative said the company first considered applying to add a casino in 2009, following a proposal from U.S.-based Central Florida Investments Inc., but that idea didn’t pan out.
The rationale is to make KINTEX more competitive with MICE facilities in Singapore and upcoming integrated resort projects in Japan.
