The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) last week revealed that service robots and chatbots will soon be used by the SAR’s casino resorts to improve customer service.
According to a report by the Macau News Agency, among the devices being considered by tourism officials is a service robot that can speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English. The technology is part of a “tourism information exchange platform to be implemented next year. The robot can answer basic questions on amenities and give directions within the resort.
An online chatbot, also fluent in the three languages, will advise guests on where to eat, provide directions and give recommendations based on the Michelin Guide in Macau.
“For visitor insights, the application can look up different pieces of information such as weather conditions, crowds and so on,” MGTO Director Ricky Hoi told MNA.
The projects will be implemented in early 2019.
