Scientific Games’ OpenSports platform did record business on the first day of the 2020 Royal Ascot, even though the race was held sans spectators due to Covid-19.
The sports betting technology provider recorded a 44 percent increase in the volume of bets compared to last year. There was also an 18 percent increase in the stakes.
Keith O’Loughlin, senior vice president of sportsbook, digital at Scientific Games, said, “Royal Ascot has always been an important fixture in the sporting calendar, but this year’s meeting has held even more significance given the current climate.
“Our figures show that there’s pent-up demand from bettors for unmissable sports events such as Royal Ascot. I’m delighted to report that OpenSports has delivered scale and stability for our customers following this increase in wagering activity.”
The OpenSports solution has four core products headlined by OpenBet (betting engine), but also including OpenPlatform (player account management), OpenTrade (trading services powered by Don Best) and OpenEngage, a front-end customization tool.
These four are joined by two supporting products in OpenAccelerate and OpenMarket, a first aggregation platform for sports betting launched at this year’s ICE.
