The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, which operates Red Hawk Casino in Placerville, California, recently purchased three tracts of rural land to the north of the property, totaling 30 acres.
According to public records from El Dorado County, the tribe purchased the three parcels for a total of $1.4 million in early October.
The parcels are located a little over a mile from Red Hawk, although there are no roads connecting them to the casino. They are located off Shingle Springs Drive, near Green Valley Road.
Even though the tribe did not immediately comment on the recent acquisition, representatives have said previously that nearby land is always a point of interest whenever opportunities arise.
The Shingle Springs Band has been very active when it comes to land acquisition in recent years, having now purchased just under 100 acres in the immediate vicinity of Red Hawk, in addition to the $8.8 million, 182-acre plot near Placerville it closed on back in May.
Red Hawk itself is also in the midst of expansion, as the tribe broke ground last summer on a hotel with 150 rooms as well as a 75,000 square-foot entertainment venue, complete with dining options, a bowling alley and convention space.
