Non-gaming attractions opening in phases
On August 3, Landing International debuted its new Shinhwa Waterpark at Jeju Shinhwa World, a casino resort on the South Korean island of Jeju. The 17,800-square-meter (192,000-square-foot) attraction features 13 indoor and outdoor pools including an artificial wave pool, slides, outdoor cabanas and sauna facilities, operator Landing International told GGRAsia.
On the same day, an exhibit opened at the resorts featuring sci-fi characters the Transformers. Transformers Autobots Alliance includes eight interactive exhibition halls.
The new attractions are part of a phased opening of non-gaming amenities. In April 2017, Landing opened a residential complex at the resort called Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World. Last September, Shinhwa Theme Park debuted. The resort also includes a convention center, the Shinhwa Shoppes retail district, a K-pop-themed zone called YG Republique and two hotels, Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Resort and the Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott. The casino opened in February.
Yet another hotel with 540 rooms will open later this year, GGRAsia reported. By 2020, the group aims to open a Four Seasons Resort and Spa, with about 200 guest rooms, and a theme park called Lionsgate Movie World.
