A ribbon-cutting celebration recently was held at the Eastern Shoshone Nation’s million expansion at its Shoshone Rose Casino & Hotel in Lander, Wyoming. The project began September 2015 and created 100 construction jobs and 50 new permanent jobs.
Tribal Chairman Darwin St. Clair Jr. said, “We are excited about creating new jobs and making it a priority, as we continue to diversify our economy by exploring new markets and new industries.” National Indian Gaming Association Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr. and Shakopee Mdewankton Sioux Tribe Chairman Charlie Vig also attended the grand opening event.
The Shoshone Rose Casino opened in 2007 with a 7,000 square foot gaming floor with 300 slots and video poker machines plus table games. Today with the expansion, the casino offers more than 400 slots, additional table games and outdoor dining facing the scenic Wind River Range. In addition, the new hotel has 61 rooms, including six deluxe two-room suites with balconies facing the Wind River Range. Other amenities include an indoor pool and a large patio with a fire pit.
The expansion project is expected to increase revenue at the Shoshone Rose Casino.
Shoshone officials also announced the tribe recently received a $335 thousand grant from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community through an existing gaming partnership. The tribe will use the grant to upgrade Shoshone Rose Casino’s surveillance system.
