Shoshone Casino May Reduce Staff, Hours

Declining revenue at the Shoshone Rose Casino and Hotel (l.) in Lander, Wyoming may lead to layoffs of up to 20 employees and cutbacks in working hours. Operated by the Eastern Shoshone Tribe of the Wind River Reservation, the tribe hired RTC Gaming Consultants to study its operations and make recommendations regarding increasing revenue and lowering costs.

Shoshone Casino May Reduce Staff, Hours

As revenue continues to drop at the Shoshone Rose Casino and Hotel in Lander, Wyoming, management announced layoffs of up to 20 employees and reduced working hours are possible, as well as decreasing table game availability. Shuttle service and banquet operations also could end.

The property is operated by the Eastern Shoshone Tribe of the Wind River Reservation. Business Council Chairman Vernon Hill said, “This has been a difficult process for the Eastern Shoshone Business Council but we will do everything we can to bring back these jobs once the casino stabilizes.”

Casino advisors RTC Gaming Consulting made the recommendations to the tribe after studying its operations. The goal is to increase revenue and lower costs, plus use part of the savings toward marketing.

Opened in 2007, the had a $30-million upgrade in 2015, adding a hotel, restaurants and additional gaming area.
