The SiGMA Group got a major foothold in South America with its acquisition of Jericho Events, who is responsible for the Brazilian iGaming Summit. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. BiS SiGMA Americas and Afiliados Latam will be held June 15-17 and in São Paulo and will be the first event following the acquisition.
The BiS is the major iGaming event in Latin America and this year will be expanded with the debut of BetExpo, an event focused on sports bettors and traders.
“The group, a reference in holding events designed to promote the gaming and sports betting sectors, takes an extremely important step to further consolidate the theme and strengthen the subject in the country,” Jericho Events stated in a press release.
Alessandro Valente, president of Jericho Events, said in the release that this merger will help achieve that goal.
“With SiGMA’s global reach, we are also well positioned for future market growth. As an entrepreneur, I was attracted to SiGMA because of the cultural fit and mindset entrepreneurial and proactive within the organization.”
This is all part of SiGMA Group’s goal of expanding its presence around the world. The company already hosts several iGaming events in places such as Dubai, Kenya, Manila, and Malta.
“This provides a strong presence in this giant emerging market,” Eman Pulis, founder of SiGMA Group said in a release. “The acquisition comes at a perfect time. With the live event space out of the pressures of Covid, there has never been a better time to expand into emerging markets.”
Pulis added that the company is looking at other areas to expand.
“Operators, suppliers and affiliates have been asking to expand into emerging markets including Africa, Asia and Latin America,” Pulis said. “We have heard these demands and by merging SiGMA Americas with BiS, we are in a position to create an unrivaled experience in the Latin America region.”
Jericho Events will handle the details for the show and Valente will remain as the chairman of the board. That arrangement is scheduled to last for the next four years.
“Already operating in Brazil and with know-how in the region’s businesses, the ultimate goal is to maintain the evolution of the conference in its next editions,” the companies said in a statement, explaining the decision.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to make the next show, in June 2023, memorable,” Pulis said.
