Micro-betting leaders Simplebet recently announced that its second season offering NBA bets was a huge success, citing growth of 350 percent year-over-year (or season-over-season).
According to a company release, Simplebet offered wagers for a total of 90 playoff games over a two-month span, which includes the newly added play-in tournament. The season was capped off with the Denver Nuggets defeating the Miami Heat in five games to secure the franchise’s first-ever NBA Championship.
All told, the company took in some $47 million throughout its client base, registering bets from more than 200,000 unique users. The total bet count increased five-fold year-over-year.
Simplebet’s platform allows players to make micro-bets, or wagers that apply to individual plays or actions within the game. For example, one could bet on the outcome of an at-bat in baseball or the yardage on an upcoming football play.
The company’s product offerings include the MLB, NBA, NFL and college football and basketball.
Chris Bevilacqua, CEO of Simplebet said in a statement, “This year’s NBA playoffs truly showcases the capability of Simplebet’s platform for a free-flowing game like basketball. With almost 100% uptime, our markets allow fans to bet on their favorite players’ next shot attempt result throughout the course of the entire NBA game. We are thrilled with the results of this NBA season, and we look forward to expanding our NBA offering by the opening tip next year.”
