Singapore’s two megaresorts, Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands, have begun accepting government-subsidized spending vouchers devised as a means to offset the pandemic’s impacts on tourism by promoting visits by residents of the city-state.
The SingapoRediscovers program, as it’s called, was introduced in September and grants Singaporeans 18 and older SGD$100 each, equivalent to around US$75, to spend on domestic attractions and local tours. Adults may also purchase up to six subsidized tickets for attractions and tours for those under 18 at a discount.
The vouchers are accessible via the SingPass card, an identification system providing residents with access government services and information online, and are good through the end of June.
RWS said promotions and packages for hotel stays and non-gaming attractions have been introduced in partnership with five online booking partners.
MBS said it is accepting direct hotel bookings and ticket purchases using the vouchers.
