Singapore Earmarks $1 Million for Promotions

The Singapore Tourism Board will put $1 million into the so-called Fast Forward Fund, which will support multimedia content to promote the jurisdiction.

Calling vloggers, videographers, filmmakers

The Singapore Tourism Board has earmarked $1 million to encourage the development of local content promoting the city-state.

The Fast Forward fund will support film, video and animation that features Singapore and “brings to life the Passion Made Possible brand or Passion Tribes.” Applications for funding will be taken throughout January 2019. Content creators based in Singapore, such as filmmakers, vloggers, media companies and creative agencies are welcome to apply, said the board.

According to the Straits Times, the STB’s Passion Made Possible brand is used internationally to draw tourists based on their lifestyle and travel interests, categorizing them in “tribes” such as foodies and explorers.

“As part of our marketing strategy, we want to support home-grown talent and showcase content about our people, spirit and attitude in an authentic way,” said STB Director of Digital and Content Terrence Voon. “Through Fast Forward, we hope to turn more of such story ideas and concepts into reality, and bring their work to a global stage.”

Proposals will be evaluated by a panel that includes Voon; Yuni Hadi, executive director of the Singapore International Film Festival; Benjamin Lee, head of digital and social content strategy for Tribal Worldwide; and Bobbing Buoy Films director Wee Li Lin.

Successful applicants will receive up to 50 percent of qualifying costs up to $300,000 per entry, which includes third-party costs for creative development, production, distribution and marketing, the Times reported. Only costs incurred in Singapore will qualify.
