Singapore Increases Casino Capacities

On July 14, the government of Singapore gave the all-clear to casinos and other businesses to add more indoor capacity—50 percent, up from 25 percent under relaxed Covid-19 restrictions.

Singapore is host to two casino resorts: Marina Bay Sands, owned by the Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Resorts World Sentosa, run by Genting Singapore Ltd.

Other attractions such as cruises, museums and public libraries also opened to more patrons, hotels have eased restrictions, and live performances and sporting events have resumed, reported GGRAsia.

According to Inside Asian Gaming, Marina Bay Sands has removed its previous limit of two players per gaming table. And starting June 21, meetings of 250 or fewer attendees can resume, along with indoor dining at restaurants for groups of up to five people.

The easing of restrictions occurred two weeks after Marina Bay Sands revealed it had conducted mass Covid-19 testing of almost 7,500 staff and 800 contractors in response to a recent outbreak, with all coming back negative.
