David Sisk recently was hired by Melco Crown Entertainment Limited. Previously he was chief operating officer at Genting Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa property in Singapore, which he joined in 2014 and left in the first half of 2016. Prior to that, Sisk joined Sands China, the Macau operating unit of Las Vegas Sands Corp, in 2010 as chief casino officer. Later he was named executive vice president and chief operating officer, and then resigned in September 2013.
In addition, sources said JD Clayton had left Melco Crown. Most recently he was president of its 60 percent-owned Macau property Studio City on Cotai. Previously he served as executive vice president, operations at Wynn Macau Limited’s property Wynn Macau from 2006 to 2012.
Opened October 27, 2015, Studio City has been underperforming in the Macau market in casino gross gaming revenue relative to the number of its gaming tables, analysts said. Studio City is scheduled to offer VIP gaming tables soon, although it opened as a mass-market-focused resort, said Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, Melco Crown chairman and chief executive of Melco Crown. He stated having some VIP presence would provide “an overall better experience and positioning” for Studio City.
In a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on August 29, Melco Crown said it remained “focused on its efforts to drive performance, introducing special programs to promote growth and optimization of the property and its operations.” Officials said, however, there is “no assurance that Studio City’s financial and operational performance will improve sufficiently in the remaining months of the year to meet all of its relevant financial targets.”
