Sites Banned in Hungary, Turkey

Hungary and Turkey are working together to crack down on unlicensed internet gambling in their countries. Leading operator Ladbrokes is among the victims, banned from both countries, which have blacklisted more than 100 web sites to date.

Regulatory authorities in Hungary and Turkey have banned internet giants Ladbrokes, Bwin.party and Bet365 from doing business in their countries.

The Hungary ban was imposed as punishment for operating in the country without official permission.

According to the Worldbulletin.net news portal, the two countries have been working together for several years to block unlicensed online gambling.

The Turkish National Lottery and domestic telecommunications authority TIB have joined forces to block access to 110 gambling web sites in the last five years out of 440 targeted.

The country outlawed land-based gambling back in 1997.
