Potential for 50K visits in year one

María Jesús Montero, minister of finance and public administration for the government of Andalusia, Spain hailed as “good news” the interest in a sixth casino license in the capital city of the province.

The renewable licenses are valid for 15 years, reported Games Magazine Brasil. The operator must offer nongaming amenities including bars, restaurants and other entertainment facilities. Details of the public tender, issued last May, said operators will be evaluated based on the number of jobs a given project will create, the operators’ experience in the sector, and whether it is locally based. The gaming floor must have a minimum capacity for 500 people, with a minimum area of 750 square meters (8,073 square feet).

According to government estimates, the new casino could draw as many as around 50,000 visits in its first year. The project “will be a magnet for tourism and will allow the creation of employment,” said Montero.

Among the announced bidders is Spanish operator Cirsa Gaming Corp., which pledged an initial investment of €9 million (US$11.1 million).
