SkyCity Adelaide Lockdown Cut Short by Government

South Australia issued orders for Covid-19 lockdown restrictions for six days, an order which includes SkyCity Adelaide. But the casino reopened after just three days of lockdown on November 23.

The reversal came after an infected Adelaide pizza shop worker, who picked up the virus working at a quarantine hotel, lied to authorities about where he had been. The original story prompted the lockdown, according to Gambling Insider.

SkyCity Entertainment Group reopened but with social distancing restrictions in place, such as limiting entry to certain membership tiers, a maximum capacity of 100 people including staff on the gaming floor and in each F&B outlet, and fewer spaces at gaming tables.

The closure also forced SkyCity to delay the launch of its $330 million SkyCity Adelaide expansion, which features the 120-room luxury hotel Eos.
