SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced the launch of carded play at its land-based casinos across New Zealand.
All customers will need to sign up for a SHOW by SkyCity card to verify their identity and gamble. The new card will also feature various safeguards to protect players from gambling harm while playing.
Players must show the SkyCity card for all machine and table gaming but can continue to use cash, QUICK Pay or Tito tickets to gamble. Customers will also have the option to join SkyCity’s refreshed loyalty program.
The rollout began in Queenstown and Hamilton in early July and recently completed in Auckland. Customers can sign up at any New Zealand SkyCity Casino with a legal form of photo ID.
SkyCity Committed to Protecting Players
In terms of protection measures, SkyCity can monitor gameplay patterns and encourage safer gaming behaviors. Features include prompted and mandatory breaks, as well as session, daily and weekly limits. Players can also monitor how long they have played.
“Carded Play gives us the tools to better support our customers,” said SkyCity Chief Operating Officer Callum Mallett. “We can make earlier interventions where needed, and ensure gaming remains a safe and enjoyable experience.
“We’re proud to lead the industry in building a safer, more sustainable future for gaming in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our players all play differently, across different products.
“Our previous approach supported safe play within an anonymous system, but Carded Play takes that commitment further. It allows us to identify patterns of concern earlier and encourage breaks before harm occurs, giving us better tools to support our customers in real time.”
