Soaring Eagle Property To Be Renovated

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe announced a multimillion dollar renovation at the Green Suites, which will be renamed the Retreat at Soaring Eagle, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. It’s located on Waabooz Run Golf Course and adjacent to Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel. Green Suites is an older property, said Fredrick “Fritz” Kuhlman, marketing manager at Migizi Economic Development Company, the tribal unit that operates its non-gaming enterprises. He added, “We want to create an environment that’s very welcoming and very homey,” and appealing to casino guests, concert-goers, golf groups, visiting professors to Central Michigan University, visiting physicians and other professionals.

Kuhlman said the renovated hotel will offer upscale 1-3 bedroom suites for nightly or extended stays. Each suite will have a living room, kitchen and bathroom, and the interior design will incorporate the work of tribal artists and photographers. Designs by Raz “has done a treatment on the interior that is very European, very minimalist, with very bold colors. There’s not really going to be anything else quite like it around. It’s really going to be a beautiful addition to the Soaring Eagle properties family,” Kuhlmann stated.

He said work will begin this summer in phases, and continue six to eight months. The nearby Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort also is in the midst of a $26.5 million renovation project.
