Added to Krasnodar Krai gaming zone
The gaming subsidiary of a Singapore construction firm has won the first casino license in Sochi, in Russia’s Crimea region. The firm, LLC Domain, was founded by Silverron International Private Ltd. in December 2015.
According to the Asia Gaming Brief, CEO Mikhail Danilov has done business in Russia’s Altai Krai and Primorsky Krai gaming zones and owns a piece of local bookmakers Star Bet and Bingo Boom. The company says that the new Sochi casino will have a soft opening at the end of the year and a grand opening in early 2017.
Gambling has been illegal in Russia since 2009 with the exception of four zones: the Kaliningrad Oblast on the Baltic Sea, the far eastern Primorsky Krai, Krasnodar Krai on the Black Sea and Altai Krai in Central Asia. The Krasnaya Polyana region around Sochi was added to the Krasnodar Krai region in 2014.
No other operators have yet applied to develop a resort in the vicinity.
