Gambling has been banned in South Carolina since 1802; the lottery is the only legalized gambling. But state Senator Gerald Malloy pre-filed a bill amending the state constitution to allow sports betting and "casino activities." Estimates show sports betting could generate $215 million in annual tax revenue.
