Viejas Casino & Resort in San Diego County has accomplished what is believed to be a first: the first bingo hall in California to open in a shopping mall.
Viejas Bingo opened to the public on April 5. The 11,300 square foot casino with 400 seats is located at the eastern end of Viejas Outlets, and across the street from the Viejas Casino & Resort. For those who like to mix bingo and slots, the new facility has a 1,000 SF slot machine area.
Besides traditional paper bingo sheets and daubers, those of a higher tech frame of mind can also play using bingo tablets or at flat screen monitors. Players can have as many as 500 games going at once.
Chris Kelley, general manager of the facility, commented, “Guest service is our highest priority and the new Viejas Bingo incorporates many of the features, amenities and conveniences that our guests have asked for. It will also be a nice fit for Viejas Outlets, which provides our bingo guests with additional entertainment, dining and shopping opportunities.”
Viejas expects that the bingo hall will bring an additional 1,000 visitors to the outlet mall per day.
