Spain Will Soon Ban Gaming Ads

Spain will soon ban advertising of licensed gaming operators in all forms, including all media. The announcement was made by Alberto Garzon, Minister of Consumer Affairs.

But that’s not all. The government will also increase consumer protections and aim to curb operator conduct.

Spain’s coalition government tagged Garzon to remake the country’s gaming policy, which was different depending on what jurisdiction you are talking about. He aims to centralize things.

He noted that the recent approval of the Royal Decree on Advertising will affect gaming ads on TV, digital media and forbid sponsorships. He told an interviewer: “From next September 1, all this type of invasive advertising will disappear.”

Other measures include requiring players to set individual loss limits for each session whether online or at brick and mortar casinos. The country’s self-exclusion system will also be overhauled.
