Jdigital, a Spanish online gambling trade association, says its members have agreed to observe new advertising and marketing “control measures” approved by the country’s gaming regulator, the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) across TV, radio and digital advertising verticals within the next two months.
According to SBC News, DGOJ-licensed operators will cease all marketing activities that use “active athletes” to promote gambling services. They will also display uniform messaging that promotes responsible gambling and includes warnings for people under the age of 18.
In addition, operators will no longer be allowed to advertise during daytime broadcasting and will be banned from promoting their services through direct “in program” advertorials across TV and digital formats.
All incumbents will agree to a €200 limit on welcome bonuses, and use that no people under age 25 in betting advertisements.
“This agreement is the result of a long process of almost a year of work and has been possible thanks to the efforts of all operators,” said JDigital President Mikel López de Torre. “We are very happy to be able to reinforce the message of responsibility with the game that the operators promote since the Law of the Game entered into force in 2012.
“Gaming companies have always supported regulatory development, since it is also our objective to guarantee sufficient protection to users, paying special attention to more sensitive groups, such as minors or players who show pathological behaviors,” López de Torre added.
