Sportradar added to its sports data business with the acquisition of Australian-based InteractSport. The new addition to Swiss-based Sportradar focuses on cricket sports data in partnership with Cricket Australia and the England & Wales Cricket Board.
“With cricket being one of the most popular sports in the world, we see this as a growth opportunity for the company, especially given the significance of the sport in the Asian region,” said Sportradar Group CEO Carsten Koerl in a statement.
The purchase follows the March acquisition of Fresh Eight, a personalized messaging platform for the gaming industry; an agreement to buy Synergy Sport, which analyzes, distributes, and commercializes sports content; and in April, a deal to provide a range of services to TwinSpires, the online sports betting division of Churchill Downs.
As for InteractSport, the partnership with Sportradar expects to lead to regional and global growth. InteractSport CEO Sam Taylor said in a statement that “aligning with Sportradar” will help his company scale its operation “to develop exciting new products, reach new markets and deliver even greater benefit to our current and future customers.”
