The latest partnership for Sportradar makes it the official data and live streaming provider for the International Cricket Council. The deal involves eight of the top men’s and women’s tournaments covering 275 matches, among them World Cup matches.
Cricket has some 2.5 billion fans worldwide. By accessing Sportradar’s network of 1,000 clients around 80 countries, the ICC can create more chances to engage its fans, according to Sports Video Group News.
“We see huge potential to grow its fan base still further, helping fans interact with the game on an even deeper level,” said David Lampitt, managing director, sports content, and partnerships at Sportradar. “…with the full breadth of our unique technology powering it, we will deliver enhanced cricket content globally across a range of platforms.”
For the ICC, innovative use of sports data is a significant part of its digital strategy. “This partnership with Sportradar will help us grow our global cricket fanbase and deepen our engagement with it,” said Finn Bradshaw, head of digital at ICC.
For example, Sportradar technology will offer live ball-by-ball match data to media platforms via bespoke feeds and dedicated channels. In addition, Sportradar’s Integrity Services will monitor and report for all 275 matches through its Universal Fraud Detection System with any suspicious matches subsequently reported to partners.
