Sports betting fueled growth in Denmarks’s gambling market with a 9 percent rise in the latest quarter through September to about $92 million according to Danish regulator Spillemyndigheden.
Mobile betting accounted for 51 percent of gambling revenue compared to 33 percent for land-based betting and 16 percent for online desktop betting. Mobile platforms accounted for 54 percent of all stakes in Denmark, with desktop at 22 percent and 24 percent with land-based bookmakers.
Overall revenue from both online and land-based sources came to DKK1.497 billion, up 9.3 percent from the same period last year and up 2.4 percent from the second quarter of 2017.
Denmark’s regulated online casino (including poker) revenue was at DKK456 million, up nearly one-fifth year-on-year but almost identical to the second quarter figure. Online poker revenue totaled just DKK31.7 million, down 6 percent year-on-year and a fourth straight quarter of decline.
