Wong expects “slow” growth in the new year
The luxury St. Regis Macao Hotel opened last month on the Cotai Strip in Macau. With 400 rooms and suites, it is part of Sheldon Adelson’s “Cotai Central” project, which ultimately will include the Parisian resort.
At a press conference at the Sheraton Macau last month, Adelson said the Parisian, which is on track to open in the second half of 2016, “will complete the plan, making it possible for our visitors to walk around all our premises in a controlled environment where they can have different experiences and 1,000 retail shops.”
According to the Macau Daily Times, Sands China President and COO Wilfred Wong said he looks forward to “slow and steady” growth for Macau in 2016.
Adelson added that that the upcoming HK-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge will provide an “important boost” for the economy. “When completed, the bridge will make it faster to come from the HK airport to Macau, then to reach Central District in Hong Kong. It will be like having an extra airport in Macau,” and also attract more MICE business to the vicinity.
