The Star City casino in Birmingham, England, a Genting UK property, could reopen as a much smaller facility, reports the Birmingham Post. The first-floor casino floor shut down in January, and other entertainment attractions also were also trimmed.

A new planning application indicates that a reduced-size casino could return to the ground floor.A spokesman for Genting said, “At this stage, we are considering a number of different possible options for the building in question.”

In 2015, Genting created its own competition by opening a Resorts World complex at the National Exhibition Centre in Solihull outside Birmingham. Resorts World has a casino, a movie theater, shops and several bars.

The Malaysia-based company also operates the Birmingham Casino Chinatown as well as gaming facilities in Edgbaston and Coventry.
