Star Match Targets Younger Lottery Players

Star Match is the Georgia Lottery's new mobile game aimed at younger players, combining match 3 and social gaming with a digital scratch card. Developed by LottoInteractive of California and powered with International Game Technology's ILottery platform, Star Match costs $2 per play and can be accessed via desktop or mobile devices.

The Georgia Lottery recently debuted a new mobile game, Star Match, aimed at players in their 20s and 30s. Created by LottoInteractive of California and powered with International Game Technology’s ILottery platform, the game blends social gaming with scratch tickets, combining a match 3 game with the option to win cash with a digital scratch card. Star Match costs per game and can be played via desktop or mobile device, both Android and iOS. Players must be located within the state of Georgia to participate, however a free-play version also is available.

Star Match is similar to a traditional gem matching game found on social media sites, using Hollywood icons instead of jewels. The goal is to make as many matches as possible to gain star power. Low star power is considered to be six stars, with 18 stars possible. After reaching high star power, the player can scratch the card; three matches wins a prize ranging from free play to up to $10,000.

LottoInteractive Chief Executive Officer Brian Ward said Star Match will appeal to social gamers who only could win virtual credits during game play, plus those who enjoy traditional lottery games. He added LottoInteractive is working on new games blending social engagement with retention mechanics, plus methods for purchasing national lottery tickets for Mega Millions and Powerball.
