Station Casinos has ended its Jumbo Hold ‘Em Poker Progressive Jackpot promotion after losing a decision before regulators on a disputed jackpot at Red Rock casino in July.

The hand involved player Len Schreter‘s straight flush beating player Avi Shamir‘s lower straight flush at Red Rock on July 7, 2017. The hand should have triggered a jackpot of $62,126 for Shamir and half that amount for Schreter.

Station Casino also pays out a percentage of progressive jackpot to players in all five of its Las Vegas-area poker rooms when a qualifying hand is hit. Therefore, 78 people playing at Station Casinos poker rooms should have been paid $565 each.

The casino, however, invalidated the hand because Schreter exposed his hole cards after the final community card, but before the hand’s final betting round.

Red Rock officials said exposing cards is the same thing as entering a discussion of the hand. Bad beat jackpot rules clearly state discussion of a hand during play may invalidate the jackpot, according to USpoker.com.

Players, however, argued that the action by Schreter’s happened so late, it had no impact on the outcome of the hand and appealed to the Gaming Control Board to review.

After a lengthy review, the board sided with players and ruled in February that the casino has to pay the jackpots. Officials for the casino have said they will not appeal the ruling and have begun making payouts.
