Strat to Add $70 Million Golf Venue

Golden Entertainment, owner of the Strat Hotel, Casino and SkyPod on Las Vegas Boulevard, will add a $70 million, four-story golf attraction called Atomic Range to an adjacent seven-acre tract.

In a news release, Golden Entertainment shared details of the 92,000-square-foot attraction, which will feature a multi-level range and 103 hitting bays, plus four bars, meeting space and a 12,000-square-foot “Astrocade.” Designed for golfers of all levels, it’s expected to break ground in the spring of 2022 and be finished by the end of 2023. It will bring about 500 new jobs.

“We are excited to provide this new golf experience to our guests at the Strat, as well as downtown visitors, convention attendees, guests at North Strip properties and Las Vegas locals,” said Charles Protell, president and CFO of Golden Entertainment.

The project is a joint venture between Golden Entertainment and Flite Golf & Entertainment working with Century Golf, which has managed more than 500 golf facilities worldwide.

“There’s not many golf destinations better in the world than Las Vegas,” Flite Golf founder and CEO John Vollbrecht said. “If we’re going to go into Vegas, we’ve got to do it right and do something unique.”

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, golf has seen a surge in popularity across the country, with the National Golf Foundation showing that more than 24.8 million people played in the U.S. in 2020, an increase of 500,000 players or 2 percent. That was the largest year-over-year growth for the industry in nearly two decades.

“We’ve seen a massive growth in golf over the past two years, and we think now is the time to launch this kind of experience,” Brad Goldberg, senior vice president of marketing for Golden Entertainment.
