It purchases $36 million in goods and services from Michigan-based companies every year. “The indirect and induced employment impact added to direct employment results in an annual total of 2,491 jobs that equates to an annual payroll of $99 million,” the study stated.

Since the Gun Lake Casino opened on February 10, 2011 in Wayland, the tribe has shared more than $109 million in casino revenue with Michigan and local entities. Annual revenue sharing distributions are more than $15 million a year, the study said. Casino revenue funds also are distributed to school districts, law enforcement agencies and infrastructure projects.

The study also noted the tribe’s has spent $236 million on construction projects, including the casino and several government facilities, of which $142 million benefited Michigan’s economy. The construction projects also created 1,439 jobs.
