New smoking rooms also in the plan
The renovation of 400 hotel rooms at Ponte 16 resort in Macau has been completed, according to Hoffman Ma Ho Man, executive director and deputy chairman of investor Success Universe. He said the investment per key came in at less than HK$100,000 (US$12,827).
Now the firm will go on to renovate its VIP and high-limit areas inside the casino, according to GGRAsia. Success Universe is a joint venture partner alongside a unit of gaming operator SJM Holdings Ltd. in Ponte 16 on Macau’s Inner Harbor.
“We’re drawing the plans for the revamp of the VIP gaming and high-limit gaming zones, and along with this upgrade we are also submitting the plan for installing new smoking rooms,” Ma said, adding that the job will take two to three months.
Ponte 16 has one VIP room with six tables operated by a VIP gaming promoter and a self-operated high-limit gaming zone with gaming tables. “Of these nine gaming tables in the high-limit zone, we are now allocating some of them a more luxurious environment. We are placing some of these tables in a separate room,” Ma said.
The minimum bet for the high-limit zone is HKD1,000 (US$128.30). He expects gross gaming revenue for Macau to exceed 10 percent in 2017 on a year-on-year basis. Success Universe saw its share of profit relating to Ponte 16 fall by 40.3 percent year-on-year in 2016 to about HKD17.5 million. The property’s adjusted EBITDA fell by 8.7 percent year-on-year to HKD277.4 million.
